Narsingh Chaturdashi :

Introduction
                               
Narsingh Chaturdashi or Narshimha Chaturdashi is mainly observed to celebrate victory of good over evil. It is believed that on this very day this great day, Lord Narasimha appeared for rescue of Dharma and Bhakti personified in Prahlada Maharaja.

Special Celebrations:

Generally this day is celebrated with fasting and worshiping the lord with the abhisheka and archana at dusk. Rituals are followed by sankeertana and hari naam parayana.

Tadavas, a village in Jaipur district which is popular for Narshimha Mandir observe special celebrations on the day of Narsingh Chaturdashi. Narsingh Leela is organised in this village annually in the month of Vaishakha on Narsingh Chaturdashi (in April-May).

Narasimha Chaturdashi Vrata:
It is believed that Lord Narasimha appeared at the time of dusk so Hindu devotees fast till dusk. Narasimha Chaturdashi vrata is observed by Hindus of all the castes and creed.

Narasimha Chaturdashi Rites & Rituals:
One should bathe enchanting Vedic Mantras (sermons). Thereafter sanitize the area with Gobar (cow dung). Thereafter establish a Kalasha with Copper and a gem in it. An Ashtadal Kamal (eight petal lotus) is drawn on it. Thereafter rice DAliya of rice is kept on it and idol of Lord Narasimha established on it and worshiped in Vedic way.
Brahmins are donated land, cow, til (sesame seed), gold, or clothes. Anyone who worships Lord Narasimha this way on Narasimha Chaturdashi has all his sins cleansed.

Narasimha Chaturdashi Legend:
Lord Narasimha symbolizes Strength and Bravery. Erstwhile Hindu kingdom of Vijayanagar had an image of Narasimha as their National symbol. It is said that in era gone by there was a king by name of Kashyapa. He had two sons Hiranyaksha and Hiranyakashipu by his wide Diti. Hiranyaksha was killed by the Varaha incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Hiranyakashipu was infuriated by this. He started worshipping Lord Brahma and at last he succeeded in securing a boon from Brahma that he would not die on earth or in space, nor in fire or water, not during the day or night, not inside or outside and not by the hand of a human, god, animal or any other animate or inanimate species.
